vicclimbingclub-cliffcare  > Access & Environment at Climbing Areas > TAIPAN/SPURT WALL TRACK WORKING BEE
The Taipan/Spurt Wall track in the Grampians is suffering from the traffic its receiving so a working bee has been arranged to tackle three areas in particular. As well as the track, the floor of Spurt Wall needs some stablizing to contain the soil/rocks. Working bee date 22nd September, 2007. Stay tuned. UPDATE: A successful day seeing all the work we had planned, finished. Massive thanks to all the volunteers who, before any work could commence had to haul all the timber up Flat Rock and then up the access track to Spurt Wall. The work we achieved will lessen the impact we have on the area and help to control the erosion issues. Thanks all!

vicclimbingclub-cliffcare > Deep ruts on track. Silt traps/water bars should help to control the runnels.
vicclimbingclub-cliffcare > Steep rock step section has many of the rocks loose adding further to the movement of the underlying soil. Reseating some of the rocks and supporting with some added ones should stabilize the area a little more.

vicclimbingclub-cliffcare > The rock trench is becoming deeper and deeper. The orginal soil line is visible and is quite amazing how much has eroded. Possible solution is to create step risers through either rock or timber and backfill
vicclimbingclub-cliffcare > erosion damage at base of Spurt Wall area. Stabilizing work to be done. Widely spaced silt traps to help contain the wash down of soil and stones. Some delineation of a track to the right side of the wall will help to restrict extra erosion due to walk through traffic.

vicclimbingclub-cliffcare > Naomi, Scott and Achim working on the upper section of the rock steps. They have laid a good base of rocks that should control the downhill slide of soil.
vicclimbingclub-cliffcare > Some of the sections of the steps required a little extra support for the large rocks that were threatening to shift
